The 1st King’s day

As you all knew, yesterday 26th April 2014 was the first King’s day in Holland. After having Queen Beatrix for almost 33 years, now the Netherlands has King Willem-Alexander, who received his throne in 2013. Yesterday the whole country celebrated the 1st year of the king and everyone had so much fun.

As a tradition, in every Queen’s (and now King’s) day, there is a market so called “de vrijmarkt”. This is the only time of the year where people can sell their creations and (second-hand) stuff on the street. Of course, Twinkle Cakes also participated in the vrijmarkt, together with the cool partner GOODPUTTY.

Even there were so much work in preparing all the lovely treats and cool drawings, we think it was WORTH IT! We had so much fun and plus the weather was good! It was also a cool experience to see and meet the people who are interested in our creations. Trust me, we felt goooood 😀

Although we didn’t sell everything out, we were very happy that we had the opportunity to participate in the first King’s day vrijemarkt. So one day we can tell our grandkids that we were there too.. as a part of the history hehehe.. And actually we also made some unfortunate people happy. You know why? Because we also gave the rest of the sweet treats to the Missionaries of Charity. This is also a tip for you, if you have anything like extra clothes, extra food, or anything, you can always share this to the unfortunates and visit them at ‘s-Gravendijkwal 13 Rotterdam, phone number: 010-4773611. They will receive your gifts with open hands.

Well now the whole King’s day celebration is over, it’s time for us to get some rests and face tomorrow morning again with a full energy. Happy Sunday friends!
